This big leap towards e-commerce is an ideal time
to reflect back to 1972 when the first embryonic
seeds of United International Agencies -
UNITAG - were set. At that time, the
late Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al
Khalifa suggested establishing a general trading
company of international standing in Bahrain.
Sheikh Mohammed
did not live long enough to see his dream come true,
but his youthful yet impressively focused vision
was instrumental in laying the foundation for a
fledgling company to be launched in 1974 with three
partners.
Over its relatively
short life span, the Unitag Group has been fortunate
to play a part in opening Bahrain to the world,
and the world to Bahrain. From travel to construction,
advertising to insurance, and catering to finance,
the extremely loyal and dedicated Unitag team, including
a large number of Bahrainis, has worked through
both good and bad times to achieve much.
Heading the Unitag
Group all these years has been enjoyable, frustrating,
rewarding, demanding, exhilarating and much more.
None of the achievements would have been possible,
however, without the untiring efforts of all the
management and staff, both former and present, over
many years. My personal heartfelt thanks go to each
and every one of them.
